This unit/lesson focuses on the use of course books. While there are many advantages to its usage there is one disadvantage that stands out the most to me. The fact that most course books are designed for use by all nationalities and may not cover enough depth language problems specific to the nationality of students is definitely a factor to consider. I am anti rigidity and prefer that each teaching method be tailored to suit the student or target audience. I definitely enjoyed this unit.I have always taught my lessons by following the books given to me and being flexible, depending on what the students need. I have never written out lesson plans before my classes so I am not used it. However, from this unit, I really liked seeing how the different ESA forms can be used to make sure that all three components are a part of each lesson. Even if I don't fully write out my plans, I'd like to make purposeful use of the ESA system, as they did in the sample lessons in this unit.
