I have gained a lot from taking this course which I feel has made me a better ESL teacher. The main thing I have learned, and what I feel is one of the most important things, is the significance of preparation. As a teacher, it is vital that I am prepared before class begins to help maximize the students learning capacity. I have also learned a great deal about english as a language; things that I have never previously thought about since I am a native speaker. Lastly, I have learned many different teaching skills, which make me versatile to work with different ages and levels.
Now that I have completed this course, I plan to use my TEFL certificate to teach ESL in Korea. In addition, I feel I am better prepared and more confident as I embark on a new cultural experience. Teaching english provides a wonderful opportunity to live abroad and make a positive impact on a community. Applying what I have learned throughout this course is sure to make me a successful and effective ESL teacher.
