In this unit I learned about the different parts of speech, many of which I didn't know about because I was never taught them. Many parts of speech are not taught for native speakers because they are rules that we learn through conversation. I think this unit helped me as an ESL teacher because now I can further break down the parts of speech and describe the rules behind each part of speech, some of which were so innate to me that I wouldn't have been able to explain the rules behind them.It has been interesting learning about the methods of teaching in this unit, and learning how to apply them. Surely it will be challenging to try and plan a lesson and put it into action. I think also attending a lesson in action should be beneficial as well to see it happen in front of me. I think also the age of the students should make a difference in the lesson plan itself, younger learners would be interested in more games, but older maybe more interesting in role play and discussions.
