This unit covers the description, functions and examples of the two productive skills; speaking and writing. They are equal in importance and have some differences and similarities. As teachers, we use accuracy and fluency as tools to teach both skills. For example, accuracy is used in the study phase of lesson in a controlled manner to teach speaking activities. Fluency is used is the activate phase of a lesson in a creative manner to encourage the flow of speech without stopping to think.I have learned that there are many distinctions between the present, present perfect, and present continuous tenses. Certain tenses are more appropriate for certain contexts, and there is a specific formula or sequence of words when using each tense in a sentence. The present tense should not be used to describe future events, and the present continuous tense should not be used to describe past or future events. The present perfect tense is used to show ongoing actions and states of being.
