In this unit we learnt the receptive language skills of listening and reading. I found it useful going over the relevance of reading and listening, such as for purpose and entertainment. Often we think about leaning a language in terms of speaking and writing but all are equally important. The skills required such as skimming, scanning and predicting and deducing were also good to bring attention to. It was also good noting the different issues which may arise with this language unit such as unfamiliar vocab, word length and sentence length. The example of the lesson plan was also a useful model to base future lesson plans on in regard to receptive language skill teaching and exercises.
