This unit talked about the five different conditionals (zero, first, second, third and mixed) as well as reported speech and direct speech. The sentence structures discussed in this unit are quite complex because the conditionals often deal with hypothetical speech, which can be confusing even to a native speaker! Nevertheless they are very important structures, because they are used in everyday life and need to be communicated clearly to understand the true meaning. I learned a handful of helpful exercises that could help students understand the rules better, such as filling in incomplete conditional sentences, for example \"if I had a million dollars, ...\". Here the students would finish the sentence with their own ideas, using the correct conditional. I also learned about direct and reported speech and the rules behind how it changes depending on the tense and form. For example, past simple changes to past perfect, present perfect changes to past perfect, etc.
