This unit consisted of two contrasting videos of an ESA lesson. In the first, the instructor deliberately made a number of errors, including: not smiling, repeatedly intimidating students by saying \"it's easy,\" not allowing STT, etc. In the second lesson, the instructor fully explained the concept (without using the jargon \"modal auxiliary verb\"), was positive and enthusiastic, elicited responses, and had the students work in pairs, thus increasing STT. It was very helpful to see a real-life example of an ESA lesson. I wouldn't have thought of ideas like presenting a finished product to demonstrate the Activate phase, for example. It was also helpful to see how the instructor used gestures and mimes to fully explain his point. I was also worried about English immersion, but the instructor uses simple language so the students can understand.
