In this unit I have seen through the videos what makes a good lesson and a bad one. I feel the attitude of the teacher can have a profound impact on the effectiveness of the lesson. The teacher should be polite, learn the names of the students and treat students in a fair manner to encourage them to participate in, and get the most out of the lesson. The contrast between the two lessons from the start I found was fairly obvious. In the first lesson the teacher immediately started talking about 'modal auxiliary verbs' and repeats this several times although the students are clearly unsure of the meaning. However, the second lesson he started by introducing himself and getting to know the students and immediately starts to explain what he wants the students to do in a relaxed and effective manner and this makes an astounding difference to the attitudes of the students in comparison to the first lesson.
