Unit 1 has focused on the various roles of the teacher and the characteristics of the learner. For a teacher, the ability to adapt and change the role that they play within the classroom is highly important. Various roles are crucial at different stages to ensure that the students learn and are continually motivated to do so.The various language levels of students and their age can have such an impact on the style of teaching and how they need to be taught. I've learnt from this unit that there is no class or lesson structure that will suffice for all groups of students learning a foreign language. I've become quite aware that to adapt to each learner's age and their cultural and language differences will have a huge role in the teaching of English as a foreign language.
