This unit illustrates the key variety that ESL learners come from. In my background teaching, much of what is discussed is accurate and real-world, applying to the context of a genuine classroom. I find it particularly useful because it makes an effort to outline so many of the intricacies in teacher and student interactions. In the classroom, it is challenging to micromanage all elements of a lesson. However, knowing what your students are looking for and where they are coming from is critical. Cultural lenses are critical. Individual student desires are paramount in personalizing a lesson. Without being aware of these struggles intuitively, being an effective teacher can be very difficult.
