Unit ten provided useful examples of teaching styles. The two videos showed the same lesson being taught to the same class and by the same teacher, but the two lessons were very different. The first lesson had very little student participation due to the approach of the teacher. He was not smiling, speaking too quickly, not encouraging the students, not clear when explaining the grammatical concept to be covered in the lesson and used no visual aids. The second lesson was much more effective in producing an engaged class because he was smiling, very encouraging, asked for the students names and used them, he used visual aids, and used a clear ESA lesson structure. This demonstrates how influential the attitude of the teacher is as well as the structuring of the lesson and use of visual aids.
