This lesson introduced the roles of both teacher and students in the classroom. This unit gave an overview of what qualities are found in good teachers and students. There are various roles that the teacher enacts within the classroom. These roles are described as the manager, organizer, assessor, prompter, participant, tutor, facilitator, model, and observer. This unit also provides an explanation for when each role is needed. When discussing the attributes of the learners, the unit describes many factors that can have an effect on the Type of learner they are and what is needed from the teacher. There are about 6 levels of English ability that can be further broken down or grouped together. The levels of ability vary cross-linguistically.
