The focus of this unit was on teaching phonology and pronunciation. I actually learned a lot in this section, especially with the phonemic symbols and the places of articulation. Learning about the places of articulation has helped me come to terms with some difficulty I have in learning languages such as Yoruba. I never realized how much places of articulation are relevant to the english language. I don't think it's as heavily dependent on as some languages but it is there nonetheless. The more I continue with these units it becomes more apparent that English is a very complex language.
