This unit went over the importance of using tests to evaluate ESL students. Placement or diagnostic tests can be used to assess what level a student is currently at and aide in placing the student in the proper level class. Progress testing helps provide students and teachers with feedback to they are aware of what language they have remembered, acquired, and forgotten. Regular progress testing can assist a teacher with keeping students on tract. There are many types of external examinations for ELS students wishing to work in an english speaking business or attend an English speaking University. I was not aware of the types of testing and various institutions that conduct external examinations for ESL students.
