I have never really used the phonetic alphabet before so I found this unit very interesting. It is also interesting to learn the different terminology related to the way a mouth forms different sounds. It is rewarding to apply the sounds to words to see how they are formed. When teaching pronunciation of words, the information in this unit would be helpful for preparing a lesson, knowing which sounds might be more difficult for students to pick up and preparing mouth position diagrams and examples.This was a very interesting and informative lesson. The differences in the videos were so striking. Th first one made me uncomfortable to watch. The teacher in the first video was rude and unhelpful. If I was a student in this environment I would have not returned for the next lesson. The same teacher in the second lesson was interesting, excited and fun. He was good at demonstrating and miming the words. This was an excellent example of how to engage the students and motivate them to learn.
