Unit 5 discussed the best ways to manage a classroom as a teacher. Specifically, the unit discussed the use of eye contact, voice, and gesturing. Next, it discussed the pros and cons of specific seating arrangements in the classroom. Teacher talk time and discipline were also discussed. I particularly appreciated the time dedicated to discipline. Our school has lots of children who, as previously stated in an earlier unit, may have less motivation. This lesson will help me to deal with difficult students.Mostly I have been humbled by this unit because I have 3 degrees in English, primarily in writing and literature. I desperately needed this refresher course to remember sentence structure and the names of various parts of the sentence. I take these things for granted; writing and speaking what comes and sounds natural. However, this unit made me realize how difficult it must be for students trying to comprehend how to put together parts of a sentence. I will need to look at this unit many times before teaching!
