This unit covered a lot of difficult material, primarily regarding pronounciation and phonology. I learned about techniques for indicating and teaching tone intonation and stress. In addition, I gained insight into linked speech and sound joining. The phonetic alphabet and symbols were presented along with articulation of speech. I found the techniques for the pronouciation of individual sounds particularly useful. I have a complaint, and that is I could not find anywhere in this unit chapter what phonemes represents a vowel sound. Maybe I missed it, but I found it problematic that it isn't made more obvious for such an important and basic concept of phonology.
