"Whereas phonetics is the study of all possible speech sounds common (and why) and which are rare (and also why). It turns out that there are prototype-based explanations for why the phoneme system of the languages of the world have the sounds that they do This was a very interesting module and taught me a lot on pronunciation I did not know. I found the phonetic alphabet slightly hard to grasp but should get me head around it with practise. I will need to study this module a bit more Before I start teaching to ensure I understand all the different types of pronunciations.
