I have learnt about the different types of evaluating methods that are used to test the skills of english learners at a variety of different ages/levels. Formal exams do have some importance however progress tests can show the real abilities of the students under a less stressful examination environment. Multiple different examinations exist for whatever your purpose in learning english is, ranging from simple basic skills to business skills. Tests can also be catered to the english of certain english speaking countries.This unit has taught me that there are benefits to using a course book and that it's acceptable to use them. I would find this very helpful when beginning to teach as it will give myself and the students a clear path to learn English. It's also good for the students because they have the book and can review it later in private if they are unsure about anything. This unit has also showed me some nice role play activities which could really benefit the students in their learning and keeping them interested in the material.
