I found this unit very long and quite difficult to remember all the important techniques that I will need to know to teach English. So I have had to spend a long time testing my recall before I felt confident enough to do the unit test. My only experience of language learning was more than fifty years ago when the method used was the grammar translation method . I have therefore been pleased to discover how much more enjoyable language teaching today has become. This is evident from the many ideas presented in this unit.Two key topics in this lesson I learned dealt with rapport and discipline. Developing a positive relationship with students is instrumental in creating a well balanced dynamic in the classroom. Knowing which students work well together will help create a well balanced environment and ensure other students can stay focused on the topic at hand. Concepts such as getting students to help each other, providing clear instructions, personalizing activities, and smiling all play a key role toward engaging the class effectively.
