This unit provided great insight about the different teaching materials, in order to prepare an effective class. Especially all the examples of teaching equipment are quite useful, because of some I had never thought myself. Furthermore, it was useful to see how and when to use various teaching equipment. For example, every teaching equipment has its own advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, it was useful to gain more insight about these advantages and disadvantages, in order to develop an effective class in the future.Unit 5 gave an overview of what to expect in a classroom setting and various ways and means to organize and interact with students. It discussed TTT (Teacher Talk Time) vs. STT (Student Talk Time) and gave recommendations on how to minimize TTT in ESL teaching so as to maximize the time students have to practice speaking English. The chapter also covered classroom discipline and behavior and different ways in which a teacher may fully engage the students in positive ways of learning while maintaining order at the same time.
