Unit 3 focuses on different teaching methodologies and examines the pros and cons for each of them. In particular, ESA is emphasized as the most important methodology, and it is comprised of three stages: engage, study, and activate. I learned a lot about the guidelines for each stage; for instance, a teacher should not correct a student in the engagement stage. I also realized the significance of elicitation through asking thought-provoking questions, as one of the most important role of a teacher is to motivate the students.This unit discussed various approaches for teaching special groups, such as one-on-one scenarios, beginners, or children, among others. The text presented various ideas to be intentional about applying, and others to intentionally avoid. I had not considered before that different dynamics that may be found when teaching an ESP class. I realized that, no matter the scenario, it is important for a teacher to consider the situation in which they are teaching, and plan accordingly so as to make the learning adequately appropriate.
