A sentence can cover a number of different conditions when they are being constructed. These are sentences containing if which refer to past, present and future possibilities. There are five main conditionals which as follows and these are zero, first, second, third and mixed conditionals. The second and third conditionals are somewhat similar but different verbs are being used in the context of the sentences used. The mixed conditionals are sometimes confused with the third conditional when being examined by some individuals.This unit deals with the past tenses. This unit was a helpful reminder of how the past tenses are structured and gave me some good ideas of how to teach these tenses to my students. The past tenses consist of the past simple, past continuous, past perfect and the past perfect continuous. After reading this unit, I have a much clearer idea of how to use the past tenses and how to plan lessons around this topic. This unit is great because it breaks down the structure of the past tenses in a logical and easy to understand format.
