This unit looks at evaluation and testing and why it is done. Evaluation and testing are done so the student and teacher know what level the learner is at as well as any strenghs or weaknesses. Testing can take different forms depending on what it is meant to achieve, e.g. diagnostic testing to find out what the learner already knows or progress testing to find out if they understand what they learnt previously. They should have a balance of reading, writing, speaking and listening. There are also external tests.
