In this unit we learned about evaluating and testing students to know their level, their progress as well as preparing them for external examinations. There are four ways to assess students' language level: Tutorials, evaluation by students and finally best testing. There are many kinds of tests: 1. Placement tests to find out the level of students when they are enrolled in the course. 2. Diagnostic test to find out what the students know and don't know at the beginning of the course. 3. Progress test to know how the students are progressing and retaining information. 4. Practice test to prepare students who are taking the course to take an external exam. 5. Achievement test to be done at the end of the course or the end of school year. 6. Proficiency test which includes: A- General english test (Cambridge test)that has 5 elements KEY, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE. B- Business test which is either TOEIC, Cambridge BEC, or BULAT. C- Academic English which can be either TOEFL or IELTS.
