In this unit I have studied the different methods of evaluating students. There are various reason why we evaluate; to establish studentÂ’s language abilities, to gauge their overall progress and to prepare our students for external examinations. Students can also evaluate their course, it provides awareness for the teacher too. The unit looks at the different types of tests that a teacher and schools can use to assist in the placement and continuing assessment of their students. Some tests such as the diagnostic test are to be administered at the beginning of a course and can then provide the teacher with information that can Guide their future lessons In this unit IÂ’ve learnt about various evaluation techniques and also about some of the existing external examinations of english level. Differentiation of the possible tests that can be used to evaluate students gave me the idea of how and when different tests should be used. Sample test is very useful for my future teaching job.
