In this unit I learnt what the different materials are that is available for teaching. I also learnt what can be done to adapt the materials to suit the needs of the group I am teaching. I learnt the advantages and disadvantages of course books and what resources are available to adapt them if needed This unit was an overview of course books and lesson materials. As a teacher, I always try to adapt my lesson materials to the needs of the students in order to motivate them and to make my lessons more interesting. I have particularly appreciated the presence of many samples that can be used during the lessons. This unit went over the advantages and disadvantages of using coursebooks and how to negate the disadvantages by adapting the class into a hybrid of coursebook work, authentic and created materials. It also gave a handful of useful exercises and potential lesson tools which I will definitely refer back to in creating my own material.
