I have developed more understanding of the need for students to develop effective speaking and writing skills, which are just as important as developing effective reading and listening skills, and ideas for teaching these skills at the different engage, study and activate stages of a lesson with different activities. The unit considers concerns and problems the teacher need to consider in planning effective lessons, such as to do with teaching spelling, punctuation and legible handwriting, with the ability to form correct letters, and the need to monitor students' performances and give feedback and evaluation on work done. The unit has given me ideas about what kind of communicative games could be used. The unit explains also the differences between accuracy and fluency activities and the fact that accuracy activities take place at the study stages of a lesson, where there is more control by the teacher to teach correct language, and that fluency activities take place at the activate stages, where the students have more control with creative activities.
