This unit is about the five main forms of conditional speech and the difference between direct and reported speech. In conditional speech, the consequence in the main clause cannot be realized until the condition in the if/ when clause is satisfied. The five main types of conditional speech are zero conditional, first conditional, second conditional, third conditional, and mixed conditional. Before describing how to change direct speech into reported speech, the author lists the ways of forming the various types of conditional speech and the ways to use each. This unit has mentions different parts of speech. It introduced subjects, objects, countable nouns, uncountable nouns, proper nouns, personal pronoun, possessive pronoun, reflexive pronoun, relative pronoun, definite article, indefinite article, action verbs, state verbs, adjectives, adverbs, propositions, conjunctions, etc. Each part has its basic rules but also has some exceptions. For example, we usually add -ed to the end of each verb for its past tense and past participle, but there are a lot of verbs not following this rule such as put, lie, come, go, etc.
