Teach English in Lisburn - TESOL Courses
This unit discusses the modal auxiliary verbs and the differences in the verbs between the past, present and future tenses. The unit also includes a detailed explanation of the passive voice and an overview explanation of the phrasal verbs and relative clauses. The lesson included samples of each form in order to get a better understanding and the differences in meaning when using the different modal auxiliary verbs. I personally benefited from learning the different explanations for how the meaning of a sentence changes depending on the auxiliary verb applied to the sentences.By using intonation and stress in our words and sentences, we can express feelings and variation of volume and pitch. We would be able to predict whether someone is agreeing or disagreeing, happy or upset, and questioning or answering. Some techniques used to teach intonation and stress include gestures, humming and singing, board work, and contrastive stress. The International Phonetic Alphabet is a useful tool to help students to help with problem areas. It is also interesting to note the many different ways the organs and areas in the mouth contribute to the sounds we speak.
