This unit covered the two productive skills - speaking and writing. It was similar to the previous unit on receptive skills but showcased the additional problems students may have which depend on their native language. Students should be encouraged as much as possible to speak and participate using English.
This unit brought up the unique challenges that may appear when teaching English that I had not previously thought about. It also a variety of ways and activities for a teacher to try and smooth these problems over and get the most out of student participation and learning.The variety of outside testing facilities indicates that English is a highly desired second language! It connects people from all areas of the world for business and study and is a prerequisite for University study and to obtain a management positions in the workplace for companies and subsidiaries that work with English-speaking countries. Assessment of one's skills is essential for progress. Identifying weakness can lead to strength. During a language course, periodic assessment is best since it monitors the progress of each student and indicates areas that need further work.
