Tests are very important to me when I learnt english and japanese. Periodic progress tests are the most common tests for me. Tests made me feel nervous sometime but most of the tests made me have motivation to study languages. After I studied japanese in china for two years I went to japan as an exchange student. The first text after I arrived in japan was placement test. It should be called the first placement text in my lifetime. It made me so nervous. Because I have already studied japanese for two years I didn't want to be placed in a low class. Fortunately I went to a high level class. However now I’m a teacher I found students should have pressure on placement tests. Just do as usual that is what teachers hope to see. Been placed in a higher or lower class will not suits their real language level.
