This unit provided an overview of teaching techniques for speaking and writing. It covered different approaches to creating lesson plans and activities that encourage students to speak up in class. It also talked about the different aspects of writing critique and which ones to put more (and less) emphasis on. I found the list of games that were provided in this unit to be particularly helpful, as games are an integral part of any teacher's lesson plan.This unit really brought to my attention the reason why depending on course books isn't always the best approach in a class room. Using course books as a help line or an outline for the type of class you want to give is fine. However, the class shouldn't depend on the course book. Since this is a language course, it is also recommended to use multiple activities so the students can keep practicing and the teacher can monitor where their mistakes may be.
