This unit has proved to be a challenge. I particularly found learning phonetics quite difficult. Using situation to show examples of matching tone and expression to the sentence is important. Setting up a situation will allow students to relate intonation and its uses. I definitely agree that showing phonetics to English learners would cause more confusion than progression. Pronunciation is important as it gives meaning to words and helps understanding.Modals, phrasal verbs and passive voice
The Modals are used before others verbs to add meaning to the ain verbs to express: Obligation, possibility/probability, permission/prohibition, ability, advice.
The Passive Verbs have two voices, active and passive. In both voices the sentence have the same meaning, but the focus is different. In the active voice the focus is on the agent and in the passive voice is not important and sometimes it doesn't appear.
