This unit is about how to manage a class. This can be a small class or a large one. The unit is broken down into several sections about managing a classroom. One section is about how the teacher can set up the classroom best based on size, physical barriers, and number of students. Another section is about building a rapport with the students, which is also helpful when it comes time to possibly reprimand students. Rapport is important between the students and the teachers, and it is also important between the students themselves.The first video depicts essentially what not to do in a classroom. It really highlights to me the difference between being knowledgable in a subject and being an effect teacher. teaching is a skill that is honed over time. With just small changes the whole lesson is immediately improved in the second video. This can be seen from the students attitudes. Right from the beginning the teacher sets the culture of the classroom. I also found it helpful to be able to see a ESL lesson. It is a shame the quality of the video is not better.
