Unit 13 shows how to teach phonetics. It stars with the description of the most commmon intonation patterns, and when they are used. Then we move to the theory of articulation. A produced sound is a combination of a place and a manner of articulation. We are demonstrated the classification of phonemes. Then we learn about teaching techniques. The text is accompanied with videos. One of them is a videotaped lesson on phonetics. The straight arrow lesson showed different methods the teacher used in Engage, Study and Avtivate phases.This unit talked about teaching English to special groups. It talked about teaching beginners, kids, 1-on-1 classes, business English, and multilingual classes. I thought the most interesting part was business English portion because it talked about how you don't need knowledge of the business world and if you did have such knowledge you would not want to flaunt it to your students. Rather, it's simply a regular class where you have to be more attentive to the reasons your students are learning the language and their social roles.
