It is important to evaluate the students regarding the course taken, so that we can improve in assessing them. Also it is really useful to give them tests once in a while to monitor them on what they have learned in the lesson so far and in giving them progress test is actually a great help, in order for the teacher to know what language items need more work and in that way the teacher will have an idea on where to help the student improve his learning on English. Basically a win win situation for the student-teacher relationship.This unit outlines the types of receptive skills (reading and listening), the ways in which they are used (such as scanning for information or skimming through) and their various purposes (such as for entertainment), and how receptive skills should be taught to students (e.g. by pre-teaching difficult vocabulary during the study stage). I have learnt how to plan such lessons appropriately by looking at the example patchwork receptive skills ESA lesson and learning about selecting texts appropriately to ensure students are engaged.
