This unit focused on the productive skills; speaking and writing. I thought the point about having a balance of accuracy (study phase) and fluency (activate phase) based tasks in the lesson was useful. Additionally, taking care not to over correct when students are being creative with the language. It is good for them to play around with the language and important that they feel comfortable enough to use their existing knowledge to try to form various sentences. As for writing, I have learnt that it is important to expose students to various styles of texts and give them the opportunity to write in each of these styles. It has been reiterated in many of the units, and unit 12 reminded me of this again; teachers should try to choose various topics, materials and activities that will be of interest to the students and motivate them. Similar to one of the reasons we speak and communicate in real life, we should give students a need or desire to use the language by creating interesting platforms and ways for the students to practice the language.
