This unit discussed both schooling accreditation and testing. There are many differences of testing between formal and informal. Teachers need to notice the progress of a student from day to day and week to week, to fully gauge their progress in the course and if they are truly learning. This helps to grade the student at a level beyond the required formal conventional testing. The students can sometimes do better in class simulations than they do at tests. This could show they are still learning. Students also need to be evaluated when they enter a language course to place them appropriately in the desired course where they can excel. I never know there were so many different English proficiency exams available around the world. Different exams represent different types of focus on the learner of English. Certain ones focus on business and others focus on adapting to society. When learners obtain these certificates it's a great representation of the achievements they have already received.
