In this Unit I learned about testing and assessment. The unit asserted that placement tests are designed as a tool to help teachers place individuals in the correct class in term of their language skills. Placement tests tend to be multiple choice. Placement tests are usually written and oral to measure both spelling and grammar, and also their oral fluency in the language. I also learned that progress tests are periodical tests used to measure how much students have retained from the learned material. Diagnostic tests are given as a way for teachers to know what the student already knows. Practie tests are given as a way to prepare individuals for external tests such as the toefl, IELTS, and TOEIC.
