This unit explored many aspects of managing classes, such as seating arrangements, eye contact, gestures and voice, giving instructions, establishing rapport, giving individual attention and also teacher talking time/student talking time. The information regarding using students’ Names was particularly interesting, especially the part which states you should use the student’s name at the end of the question rather than at the beginning, so the rest of the class are kept on their toes. In addition, it is true that when teachers ask questions in order around the room, students can tune out until they know it is their turn to respond. Therefore, there must be an element of unpredictability when asking questions in the classroom, keeping in mind that some students may not feel as comfortable answering questions in front of the class as others may be.
