I have learned a lot about the different Types of theories, methods, and techniques when it comes to teaching English as a second language. I have learned that there are many pros and cons to each method as it also depends on what type of students you have as well. Especially with students that have English speaking experience versus students with no experience with English whatsoever. Apparently, no teaching way is the best way as it is all trial and error depending on your students. It is important to make each lesson or stages of the lesson interesting and engaging while also studying the lesson as well. I found Task-Based Learning and ESA (Engage, Study, and Activate) lessons more effective in teaching ESL due to having the students independence to learn and speak with less teacher talk time. I have also found it important to correct your students after they are done speaking to better analyze the errors in class rather than interrupting them while they speak. As well as it is always important to encourage your students to do their best to keep speaking and learning English. These theories, methods, and techniques have given me more ideas on what to teach in a more structured way. I am interested in learning more about the next unit as I get ready to apply all that I have learned so far.
