Here Below you can check out the feedback (for one of our units) of one of the 16.000 students that last year took an online course with ITTT!

This unit covered the four main aspects/uses of the present tense. It is important to understand these tenses and their uses in order to teach students how to communicate and understand what is happening now or recently, aka in the present. The four aspects of the present tense are present perfect, present continuous, present simple, and present perfect continuous. In this reflection I will be CAPITALIZING ways that helped me memorize the different aspects of the present tense. In order to help my future students understand the present tense, I may use these tricks to break down the different uses and make them easily identifiable. In this unit I learned that the present simple is used for permanent situations like facts, routines, habits, and for commentaries, directions, etc. A way to identify it is to look for a form of \"do,\" for example: Does she dance? It helps explain what the subject currently DOes, is DOing, etc. The present continuous has a form of \"to be\" with an ING-verb. This is used to talk about actions that ARE currently happenING/developING, as well as background events. For example: We are watching TV. The present perfect tense is used for explaining things that already HAVE happened, happened recently, are still happening, etc. For example: I have worked in the US for many years. Finally, the present perfect continuous helps us express what we HAVE BEEN doing (ongoing or recently finished). For example: I have been swimming all day in the lake. As with any piece of grammar/tenses in the English language, there are many exceptions and contractions that may be applied. Teachers should be on the lookout for proper uses of the present tense in all forms (affirmative, negative, question), and use activities and teaching methods to help students expand their knowledge and ability to use the tenses correctly. I feel that I learned a lot about the present tense from this unit and I have found new ways to break down and explain the present tense to my students.
