What I liked about this lesson is how it laid out how we are to teach students reading and listening; receptive skills. These two areas of language comprehension are equally as important as the other because in order to understand a language, one has to be able to read and listen effectively. Whether students are reading/listening for pleasure or a purpose, it's important to teach them these skills to help in their English language learning. I also liked that this lesson broke down how to select texts for students (either authentic or non-authentic (specifically for new English learners)) and pre-teaching vocabulary Before a specific lesson to help students further. It was very beneficial to work through a possible lesson of my own using the ESA method and create activities based on the prompts given at the end of the reading. I hope to use these materials in future classes of my own.
