I have learnt that a good teacher focuses both ways; on teaching, ensuring that her lessons are lively, she has got a firm grip on the subject matter, she motivates and encourages the learners to learn, she gets everyone involved; and to the learner, she ensures that the learner is in the right frame of mind to learn and that the methodology takes into consideration each individual learner's style of learning. I have also learned generally that there are times learning should be learner- oriented and at other times teacher-oriented, it all depends on the topic or subject matter in the lesson plan.
