Unit 18 discusses modals, phrasal verbs and passive voice. I learned what modals are, as well as how they add emphasis to the meaning of a verb. It can be used as a possibility, permission, ability or advice. Modal verbs can be used to make something, a phrase, sound more polite, definite, imply reason, emotion, or certainty. In active and passive voice, the uni explains that although both active and passive voice may have the same meaning, the focus of the sentence changes. Passive form is usually used when the 'who/what' that performs the action is irrelevant.
