Unit 9 discusses the use of course books and lesson materials. The material is divided into two groups: authentic and created materials. The unit describes how authentic material is something that a native speaker would read or listen to and goes on to say how and why they might be used. Created materials are defined as something created by the teacher in order to replace or supplement the course book being used. The section relating to analysing a course book was another learning point and highlighted some areas that I had not previously considered. For example, availability in terms of progression through various levels and whether supplementary materials are available was new information that I picked up. ", This unit teaches about course books and lesson materials which are used both by the teacher and the students in the classroom. It also groups the lesson materials into two
