This unit encompassed the methodology and theories of teaching. It discussed how these may ideally help a student to learn English as naturally as possible. It is easy to see that the tefl program uses a combination of these methodologies. The unit also gave many ideas to use for engaging a classroom of students so as to get each one fully involved in the learning process. The emphasis on both the engage and activate sections of the lesson is to force the student to use what they are learning, to actively practice aloud their English. I learned that it is important to let the student first attempt to correct his own mistakes, rather than me. This way he will be better able to problem-solve in the future and will have less chance of repeating that mistake.
