This section focused on listening and reading skills. Both are important, and it is a good idea to incorporate all aspects of listening and reading skills into lessons--skimming, scanning, detailed information, and more. A major component of teaching these aspects (as appears to be the case for every aspect of teaching) is generating interest. It is also important to challenge students, but not so much that they are gaining any more understanding or feel discouraged. This section was actually of interest to me because of my own experiences learning a foreign language. I am now applying these theories to my own studies, and I believe this will also aid me when constructing my own lessons to teach.
