Unit One?s course discussed various roles that the teacher plays in the classroom (including the roles as a manger, resource, organizer, mentor, promoter, and participant). By utilizing these during lessons, teachers are able to best observe, inspire, assist, and monitor the students. While managing a classroom, teachers also must keep in mind the various language levels, stages and ages of the students, and tailor the class lessons to the students? needs. (For example, beginner students will be best motivated through play; while advanced students will have certain expectations of a teacher and life experiences that will affect the way the students learn).
Unit One also discussed culture and first language, and the importance of teacher?s awareness of cultural customers and differences that may affect a class or lesson.
The relationship between learners and teachers is vital and is attainable through the work of a teacher who is patient, kind, enthusiastic, knowledgeable about their subject, and who is able to play multiple roles as needed so that students will be able to achieve their highest potentials. ",
What I learned from this unit was that a teacher has many roles in the classroom and the teacher has to really know how to balance these different roles at the same time. This balance can be a big part in how a teacher reaches his/her students
